St. Joseph's College: A Premier Jesuit Institution with Autonomous Status and NAAC 'A++' Accreditation

St. Joseph’s College is a Jesuit Institution. It draws its inspiration from the life and teaching of Jesus Christ and was founded in 1882 by the Fathers of the French Foreign Mission. It is Accredited by the NAAC IV cycle: ‘A++’ level with a score of 3.79/4. The college is autonomous and is affiliated to University of Madras. Autonomy confers on the college the right to frame its syllabus and conduct its own internal and semester examinations.

St. Joseph University offers UG, PG and other courses to students. These courses are provided across the Science, Literature, and various other streams. The University of Madras has Granted the Institution the status of a First Grade College.

Admission Process


Candidates should have appeared in St. Joseph’s University Entrance Test (SJUET), to be admitted to the college. Entrance tests will be conducted on campus for all Indian Nationals. All Foreign/ International applicants will not have entrance tests but will be screened separately as prescribed by the Department/ School. Only the programs of the school of Communication and Media Studies will have an online entrance test.
